That tiny gap where all your power lives

The space

in

between

Hello Friends,

Life has a way of handing us little tests when we least expect them — nothing huge, usually, just enough to catch us off guard and see what we do with it.

Mine showed up a few weeks ago in the form of a "new" used car. I bought it through Carvana, and almost immediately it needed work. Suddenly I was juggling repair appointments, figuring out how to get to clients and events without my own car, rearranging my whole week around something I didn't plan for. Annoying doesn't even cover it.

I could have exchanged it — Carvana gives you that option. And honestly, in the moment, that felt tempting. But here's the thing: in the middle of all that frustration, I noticed myself catching that tiny gap. The second between "this is frustrating" and however I chose to act on it. I could feel the irritation fully — at the situation, at the timing, at one more thing landing on my plate — without turning it into irritation at the dealership, the mechanic, or the car itself. And once I sat with it instead of reacting to it, the answer got clearer: I'd rather ride out the wrinkles I already know than start over with a whole new set of unknowns. So I kept it. And at this point, I really do feel like I've ironed those wrinkles out.

That's really what this pause is about. Someone cuts you off in traffic, an email lands that ruins your afternoon, a "new" car turns out to need work right away — in that instant, before you've said or done anything, there's a second where you get to decide what happens next. You might feel a flood of things — frustration, stress, even anger — and all of that is allowed. Feeling it isn't the problem.

This isn't about stuffing the emotion down or pretending everything's fine. It's feeling the frustration fully, and then, from inside that feeling, choosing what you want to carry forward. Sometimes that looks like realizing you're frustrated with a situation, not a person. Sometimes it's a bigger decision, made clearer because you didn't rush it.

That small pause is where all your power actually lives. Not in controlling how you feel — you can't always do that anyway — but in choosing, on purpose, what comes out the other side of it.

If you notice that pause has gone missing lately — straight from trigger to reaction, no gap at all — that's something we can work on rebuilding together. Book a free Clarity Call and let's talk about what that could look like for you.

With Love,

Joelle
